The Best Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies, Ranked
Marvel Studios has been porting their comic-book stories from paper to screen for many years now, and they’ve done a pretty good job. With Black Widow released today, Marvel has made their 24'th movie. It has a doubtful chance of success due to the pandemic.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been growing in size since Iron Man, released in 2008 and they have created many classics. But, not all movies are created equal. Here are the 10 best Marvel movies ever made.
10. Black Panther(2018)
The first item on our list is Black Panther, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie which won an Oscar(best costume). It was about the fictional land of Wakanda whose ruler T’Challa was known as The Black Panther, the protector of Wakanda. The movie introduced so much to the MCU and it hit home as a classic Marvel movie, but it wasn’t as enjoyable as the other movies in this list, giving it 10'th place.
9. Thor: Ragnarok(2017)
Thor: Ragnarok was the third movie in the Thor franchise. A rather comedic movie, despite the serious nature of the other movies in the franchise. This movie reintroduced the Hulk as well as killing off characters like Odin and reforming Loki. The movie’s soundtrack is also one of the best in the MCU.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy(2014)
Such an important part of the Comic Universe was left forgotten until Marvel released Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. In a nutshell, the Guardians of the Galaxy is a comical Superhero team consisting of a thief, two bounty hunters, a mad man and an assassin. People who have been hurting people their whole lives, now rise up and protect the galaxy, a hilarious sci-fi, but not enough depth in the story.
7. Iron Man(2008)
Ah, Yes. The first MCU movie. If this movie hadn’t succeeded, only Heaven knows what would have happened to all the boomers(probably brainwashed by robots). There’s not much else to talk about. The movie that started it all, introducing Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. The billionaire CEO who gets into a suit and saves lives, a very original concept at the time, and definitely deserves a spot on this list.
6. Doctor Strange(2016)
Marvel revealed the Sorceror Supreme in 2016 with the release of Doctor Strange. Even though the comics were a bit on the serious side, the movies bring a more comical Doctor Strange into the picture. But, the main reason to watch this movie, is due to the brilliant visual effects. The soundtrack, visual effects and the comedy make it a worthwhile addition to this list.
5. Avengers: Infinity War(2018)
The start of the most ambitious movie crossover in history, Infinity War deserves a spot on this list due to what it stands for — The culmination of 10 years of movies, bringing together the complete MCU to face a common enemy. The number of encounters between characters which is not possible in their own movies makes this a very satisfying movie to watch.
4. Ant-man(2015)
The movie about one of the key avengers in the comics whom marvel didn’t feature in the movies. Ant-man introduces the quantum realm into the MCU. The main reason to watch this one is the creativity of the writers as well as the comedy. The writers definitely did not take the idea of shrinking and enlarging for granted.
3. Spider-Man: Far From Home(2019)
Spider-Man: Far From Home is the second instalment in the new rebooted Spider-Man series. The last movie of Phase 3(or the first movie of phase 4), which illustrates a troubled Peter Parker dealing with the loss of Stark. The highlight of this movie was definitely the villain, Mysterio. The CGI in this movie was done really well so that it feels very realistic.
2. Avengers: Endgame(2019)
The highest-earning movie of all time Endgame doesn’t fail to disappoint. In this movie, Marvel does kind of a ‘greatest hits’ compilation where viewers watch older movies with a new perspective. The ending of the Avengers’ trilogy(made out of 4 parts). The soundtrack, visual effects and the satisfaction viewers get while watching this one makes it the second-best MCU movie till now.
1. The Avengers(2012)
This clearly takes the top spot for this reason — it showed Marvel could take all its franchises, mash ’em up and still end up with a very good movie. This movie set the tone for all Marvel movies after it and also introduced the iconic Avengers’ soundtrack which almost everybody can recognize. It is because of this movie, Marvel decided to up its game and deliver the best it could to its audience. Watching this movie today invokes nostalgia and that is why it takes the top spot
